Toledo Edison customer Nikie Craig recently discovered a letter from an energy supplier that she had disregarded, which led her to notice a higher-than-usual bill with another company listed at the bottom. Dozens of other Toledo Edison customers have reported the same issue.
According to a spokesperson for Toledo Edison, customers who reside in a municipality enrolled in a government aggregation program are automatically enrolled in the program, unless they opt out of it individually.
It is advisable to pay close attention to all the mail received in your mailbox, as what may appear to be junk mail could actually be important, particularly when it comes to your electric bill.
Customers can contact Toledo Edison to opt out of the aggregation program.
The FirstEnergy electric bill comprises two parts: delivery and supply. FirstEnergy is responsible for delivering electricity to customers, while energy suppliers generate the electricity that powers the community. Customers have the option to shop for an energy supplier. If customers do not choose a supplier, they are charged a default energy supply rate negotiated by FirstEnergy.
Customers can visit the PUCO’s Apples to Apples tool online to explore alternative electricity supplier options. It is essential to consider factors such as the price, plan structure, contract terms and conditions, and any applicable taxes, charges or fees when evaluating alternative supplier offers.
Customers are also encouraged to conserve energy by exploring energy-saving tips available on the FirstEnergy website.
